A lottery winner from Mayo wins a big jackpot worth of €0.5 million

There was huge excitement in the National Lottery's winners' room this afternoon as two separate winners from Mayo and Kildare picked up a combined €1 million in prizes which they won in EuroMillions and scratch card games.

The Mayo winner scooped the €500,000 top prize in the EuroMillions draw on Tuesday, June 21, having purchased their quick-pick ticket at the Maxol Service Station on the Newport Road, Westport.

The winner, who wishes to keep the win private, said: “I’m completely gobsmacked! It’s only really starting to sink in now.

It’s not a life-altering sum of money but it’s an ideal amount for me to make some nice changes to my life.

“First and foremost, I’m looking forward to paying off the rest of my mortgage and helping some family members out.
