NC man wins $1 million after buying $2 ticket

A lucky North Carolina man won $1 million jackpot with $2 ticket, N.C lottery officials said Thursday.

Pineville resident named Carl Izzard bought his ticket in the July 29 Mega Millions drawing at Adam’s Mart on Elm Lane in Charlotte, officials said. The store will receive a bonus of $5000 for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Wednesday, taking home $710,101 after taxes, according to the lottery.

Izzard didn’t tell lottery officials what he’ll do with his big win. He couldn’t be reached by The Charlotte Observer Thursday night.
