Take 5 ticket worth $18k sold in Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The New York Lottery announced on Monday that one top-prize ticket for the TAKE 5 midday drawing worth $18,316 was sold on Staten Island.

The ticket was purchased at Island Food Market, Inc. located at Broad Street in Stapleton, and has yet to be claimed. The store will receive a bonus of $800 for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

TAKE 5 numbers are drawn from a field of one through 39. The drawing is broadcasted on television twice daily at 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education. It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of lottery school funding.
