Billion-dollar Powerball ticket sold in Altadena

The biggest Powerball jackpot ever, worth $2.4 billion which was sold at a locally owned gas station in Altadena is still unclaimed.

The winning ticket was sold at Joe’s Service Station in Altadena. The store got $1 million prize for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

Joseph Chahayed, the owner of Joe’s Service Station, said he plans to share the money with his family, particularly his 11 grandchildren.

The cash payout for the jackpot comes out to just under $1 billion, at $997.6 million.

The California State Lottery's earnings provide supplementary funding for public education.

For each prize of less than $600, players may collect from either a Lottery retailer or the Lottery itself. Prizes of $600 or more must be collected from the Lottery, via claim form.
