Illinois Gas Station Celebrates $250,000 Lottery Win with Fortunate Scratch-Off Ticket

A fortuitous individual in Illinois struck luck with a $10 scratch-off lottery ticket purchased at a gas station this week, winning an impressive $250,000.

The winning ticket, a $250,000 Crossword scratch-off, was bought at Thornton's gas station situated at 3001 Wabash Avenue in Springfield.

The Illinois Lottery reports that this year alone, the state has seen more than 3.8 million winning instant tickets sold, resulting in over $92 million in prize payouts.

As a token of appreciation, Thornton's gas station will receive a selling bonus amounting to $2,500, equivalent to 1 percent of the total prize.

Lottery officials remind winners to write their name on the back of the ticket for security and verification purposes.
