Iowa woman wins $30K after husband puts scratch-off ticket in Christmas stocking

A lucky woman from Iowa won a whopping sum of $30,000 playing Iowa Lottery's “Merry Money” scratch-off game.

The winning ticket was sold at the Kum & Go store in Walnut. The store will receive a bonus of $300 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket. 

Miller scratched the ticket after her family’s Christmas festivities and then scanned it with the Iowa Lottery mobile app to confirm her big Christmas gift.

The winner recently claimed his winning amount from the lottery headquarters and took home a lump sum of $21,300 after state and federal taxes. 

She plans to use the money to make home improvements, buy a new purse and take a tropical vacation.

The Iowa Lottery Authority is run by the state of Iowa. The Iowa Lottery portfolio includes Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto America, Lucky for Life, Pick 3, Pick 4, plus numerous instant scratch ticket, InstaPlay and pull-tab games.
