Lotto Max ticket sold in Victoria worth $35 million

Greater Victoria is about to celebrate its second lottery jackpot winner of the year! In the June 6 Lotto Max draw, a ticket purchased in the region successfully matched all seven winning numbers. The $70 million jackpot will be split between two winners, with the other winning ticket sold in Ontario, resulting in each winner claiming a remarkable $35 million.

The fortunate winner has 52 weeks from the draw date printed on the ticket to come forward and claim their prize. Once the prize has been claimed, the retail location where the winning ticket was purchased and the winner's name will be announced.

This recent win follows an earlier jackpot victory in the region. Earlier this year, William Scott Gurney, a resident of Sidney, claimed a staggering $55 million jackpot, marking the largest win on Vancouver Island. Gurney purchased his winning ticket on February 28 at the Save-On-Foods location in Sidney.

For those curious, the winning numbers in the June 6 draw were four, seven, 13, 16, 31, 32, and 39. The odds of winning a Lotto Max jackpot are approximately one in 33,294,800 per $5 play, according to the B.C. Lottery Corporation. Notably, the largest lottery prize ever won in B.C. was a remarkable $70 million in September 2021.
