Lucky winner in Johannesburg strikes R34 million PowerBall jackpot

The national lottery operator, Ithuba, has confirmed that the latest lucky winner of the PowerBall jackpot worth R33 670 044.67 is from Johannesburg.

The winning ticket was purchased at a Spar in Alberton, Gauteng, and players have been urged to check their tickets. This marks the fourth jackpot win in 2023, with a total payout of over R214 million.

Earlier this year, the PowerBall game paid out its highest jackpot of R75 million, won by an unemployed woman from Johannesburg on 14 March.

Charmaine Mabuza, CEO of Ithuba, expressed excitement for the latest winner and reassured that they would be provided with financial advice from an independent advisor and trauma counseling from a psychologist through Ithuba's winner service experience.
