Lucky winner in Union County, NC hits $1 million Mega Millions prize

$1 million lottery ticket sold at Food Lion in Indian Trail, officials say

In Union County, NC, a Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million was sold at the Food Lion on Idlewild Road in Indian Trail.

The lucky winner matched all five white balls on Tuesday's drawing, becoming one of three people in the country to win the prize.

The winner is still unknown and has 180 days to claim their prize. With no winner on Tuesday, the Mega Millions jackpot for Friday's drawing is worth $254 million, or $133.7 million in cash. The odds of winning the jackpot remain at 1 in 302.5 million.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in the United States. It is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

To play Mega Millions, players choose five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. To win the jackpot, all five white ball numbers and the Mega Ball number must match the winning numbers drawn.
