A San Marcos resident won a $1 million Powerball prize, the Texas Lottery Commission announced.

The winning Quick Pick Ticket was sold at Rise N Stop #2, a convenience store south of the city at 15610 N.

Texas 123, near the intersection with Ridge Drive. The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, won in the July 19 drawing, the lottery commission said. The ticket matched all five white ball numbers drawn, but not the Powerball number.

The prize was the second million-dollar windfall locally this month.

A San Antonio resident claimed a $1 million prize from a scratch ticket purchased at an H-E-B store on the Northwest side, the lottery commission said on July 13. That winner also chose to remain anonymous.

According to data from scratch ticket games in 2021 and 2022, only 139 of the more than 22,000 ticket retailers in Texas sold tickets worth $1 million or more.
