See what is going on to track down the lottery winners who never came up

OLG Lottery officials are showing that what is goes to track the lottery winners who never shown up

June 15 came and went yet no one came forward before the deadline to claim the $1 million MaxMillions prize. The winner had purchased the ticket in Toronto on Tuesday, June 15 last year with the winning numbers 01 – 18 – 22 – 31 – 32 – 40 – 43.

“It’s rare for a prize this high to go unclaimed,” said OLG Spokesperson Tony Bitoni, adding that only 1% of the prize goes unclaimed.

Despite CCTVs and credit cards, finding lottery winners isn’t always easy. Bitoni said that people tend to put their tickets in jacket pockets where they sit forgotten in the closet when the weather changes.

Other tickets end up in glove compartments or junk drawers. And it looks like lottery tickets end up in jean pockets often enough that OLG has a CSI-like office that works to reconstruct these washed and dried pieces of paper.
