Each Tuesday at 8.30 p.m. AEST, the draw is made. In an era before New South Wales joined the Australian Lotto Bloc, it was advertised as Australia's first indeed national lottery game when it was initially offered on February 26, 1994. The original version of the game required six numbers to be selected from a pool of 45. A seventh number started to be chosen on October 18, 2005, significantly increasing the chances of winning Division 1. However, as of 2012, Oz Lotto has been renamed in these territories. It is guaranteed that Oz Lotto will have at least a $2 million prize pool for division one.
In 2012, Oz Lotto's jackpot surpassed the previous record. Four winners split a Division 1 pool of $111,972,151.04, which had been guaranteed to be worth $100 million at the time of the draw on November 6, 2012.
