£16 million lotto lifeline for lakes and rivers.

A lake in Stover Country Park, in Newton Abbot, Devon, has had just under £2.5million of the £15.6million funding.

Waterways will be revitalised after 11 nature projects were awarded a share of nearly £16million in funding. The National Lottery Heritage Fund hopes the cash boost will help preserve lakes and rivers, restore wetlands, save species and increase biodiversity.

A lake in Stover Country Park, in Newton Abbot, Devon, has had just under £2.5million of the £15.6million funding. The project will remove silt from the lake and reopen a portion of a second lake which was once a major feature of the landscape.

Nature projects in the South Downs National Park and others in Cumbria and Fife have also received funding.
