$1 million lotto win for BC woman in Lotto 6/49 draw

Yolanda Gayasco double-checked her lottery ticket and it’s a good thing she did.

The Chilliwack resident initially missed that she had won a $1-million guaranteed prize from the Lotto 6/49 draw on Nov. 19.

It was only when she took the ticket into a retailer that she learned of her seven-figure win.

“I checked my ticket online, but I didn’t check the little number at the bottom,” recalled Gayasco.

“I didn’t think I won but then I took the ticket to the Save-On-Foods on Yale Road to check.”

After confirming her win, she was so excited to tell her husband that she went to pick him up right away and shared the life-changing news.

With her bank account looking a little more flush, Gayasco has plans to travel to the Philippines in the new year to visit her family.

She will also use the windfall to pay off her mortgage.

“I am so happy that I won Lotto 6/49,” Gayasco said.

“I didn’t think it was real.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Real Canadian Superstore on Luckakuck Way in Chilliwack.
