A lucky Oakland County woman wins a big after a friend a ticket for her

A 51-year-old Oakland County woman couldn’t believe what she was seeing after she won a $500,000 jackpot playing the Michigan Lottery’s Hit $500,00 instant game.

The lucky winner -- who chose to remain anonymous -- won the jackpot after asking a friend to pick up a ticket for her.

“I play all of the Lottery games, but I especially like playing instant tickets,” the winner said.

“My friend went into the store and bought the ticket for me, and I scratched it when he got back to the car.

When we saw the prize amount, we didn’t believe it was real. I took the ticket back into the store to have it checked.

When the cashier confirmed the amount, I couldn’t believe it! I am still in shock.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Spring Valley Party Store, located at 2823 East Highland Road in Highland.
