Edgecombe County woman won N.C. Lottery’s scratch-off game worth $200k

A lucky woman from Edgecombe County named Patricia Weathersbe won a whopping sum of $200,000 playing North Carolina Education Lottery’s Ruby Red 7's scratch-off game.

The winning ticket was sold at the Speedway on North Main Street in Tarboro. The store will receive a bonus of $2000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket. 

The winner recently claimed her winning amount from the lottery headquarters and took home a one-time payment of $165,000 after state and federal taxes. 

She plans to clear her bills with the winning amount and spent some in home renovations. 

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) is run by the government of North Carolina.

The revenue distributions are as follows: 51% was paid out in prizes, 38% was transferred into the education fund, 7% was paid to the retailers who sold lottery tickets, and 4% went to general lottery expenses.
