Essendon dad New Year's Day interrupted by $3.3 million Tattslotto win

A man from Essendon had an extra reason to celebrate on the weekend after discovering he was now a TattsLotto multi-millionaire moments before midnight on New Year’s Eve.

The winning lottery ticket was purchased online.

The lottery official talked to the winner and confirmed the win.

“It’s crazy!” he declared when confirming his win with an official from The Lott.

“I knew I’d won after about 11 pm on New Year’s Eve. I was just going through The Lott app.

“I saw a little icon that I’d had a win, but thought it was probably $30 or something – not $3 million!

“When I opened it up and saw all the numbers lit up! I just couldn’t believe it. “I told my wife we’d won, but she didn’t believe me.

“I didn’t sleep that night at all. I went to bed at 3 am and got up at 4 am to check the ticket again.” The regular TattsLotto player shared he’d marked his winning entry using the same numbers he played each week.

“I’m going to be using this to pay off the house and invest the money for the kids.

“I’m sure there’ll be a holiday in there somewhere too!

“I think I’m still in shock!”
