Florida Woman Wins $5 Million Lottery Prize With $20 Scratch-Off

A Florida woman is celebrating a massive $5 million lottery win after buying a scratch-off ticket at a gas station.

Mercedes Nunez, 34, claimed the top prize from the Florida Lottery’s $20 200X THE CASH scratch-off game. She received her prize on June 29 at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

Nunez purchased the winning ticket at Murphy USA on West 15th Street in Panama City. Instead of receiving the full prize over time, she chose a one-time lump-sum payment of $2,779,400.

The Florida Lottery says the game has more than 6.9 million winning tickets and offers about $313 million in total cash prizes. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 2.96.

Scratch-off games remain hugely popular in Florida. During fiscal year 2025-2026, they accounted for 74% of all Florida Lottery ticket sales. The lottery says it has awarded more than $73.5 billion in prizes and created 2,544 millionaires.
