Fortunate Newtown woman wins a big jackpot in scratch off lottery game

A Newtown woman won $20,000 playing the CT Lottery.

Julia Michaelsen won playing 20X Cash 8th Edition. She purchased the lucky ticket Wednesday at Fast Freddie's Danbury.

The CT Lottery furnishes winner information as public record. The 20X Cash 8th Edition game has more than 2.8 million total tickets.

The overall odds of winning are 1 in 4.08, according to CT Lottery.

Lottery officials announced that the retailer who sold out the winning lottery ticket recently to the winner will also get a bonus for selling it.

The winner has to reach the nearest lottery headquarters for further documentation formalities and for claiming their winning prize money, lottery officials said.

They also said that the winner has 180 days from the day of the lottery draw to claim the winning prize money.
