North Carolina man wins scratch-off ticket worth $100,000

A lucky man from North Carolina named Lyncurgus Williams won a whopping sum of $100,000 playing $30 Fabulous Fortune scratch-off game of North Carolina Education Lottery. 

The winning ticket was sold at the Harris Teeter on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in New Bern. The store will receive a bonus of $1000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket.

Williams recently claimed his winning amount from the lottery headquarters and took home $71,019 after required state and federal tax withholdings.

“Now I can remodel my house,” he said. “I’ve been wanting to do that for a very long time.”

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) is run by the government of North Carolina.

North Carolina's scratch tickets had an overall payout of 52%, the lowest among scratch tickets then available through US lotteries.
