North Carolina Resident Strikes Gold with $100,000 Powerball Win

John Miseo, a resident of Morganton, North Carolina, experienced a fortunate twist of fate when he purchased a $3 Power Play ticket and emerged as a $100,000 Powerball prize winner. Despite considering himself not particularly lucky, Miseo's life took an unexpected turn.

His winning Quick Pick ticket, bought from Quality Mart on South Sterling Street in Morganton, aligned perfectly with four white balls and the red Powerball during the September 11 drawing, securing him an initial prize of $50,000. The excitement escalated when the 2X multiplier came into play, effectively doubling his winnings to an impressive $100,000.

Upon initially checking the numbers, Miseo sensed victory but remained uncertain about the exact amount of his windfall. The following day, he ventured online to confirm his win, and the reality sunk in, prompting him to exclaim, "Oh, no. This can't be right."

Taking his good fortune in stride, Miseo claimed his prize at the lottery headquarters. Following the mandatory federal and state tax deductions, he took home $71,271, a substantial sum that will allow him to tackle some outstanding bills.
