North Carolina School Bus Driver won N.C. Lottery’s scratch-off game worth 150k
A lucky School bus driver from North Carolina named Paula Harris won a whopping sum of $150,000 playing N.C. Lottery’s Cashword Multiplier scratch-off game.
The winning ticket was sold at the Speedway on West 3rd Street in Ayden. The store will receive a bonus of $1,500 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket.
"I love crossword puzzles," she said. "They are my favorite."
The winner recently claimed her winning amount from the lottery headquarters and took home $106,876 after all required state and federal tax withholdings.
When asked what she plans to do with her new winnings, she told lottery officials he plans to help out her kids and pay off her mortgage.
North Carolina has one of the United States' youngest lottery systems, having been enacted in 2005.
The revenue distributions are as follows: 51% was paid out in prizes, 38% was transferred into the education fund, 7% was paid to the retailers who sold lottery tickets, and 4% went to general lottery expenses.
