Winning lottery ticket worth $100K sold in Brampton

A Brampton resident now has an extra $100,000 in his bank account, thanks to an Encore lottery winning. Valdez Ramsumair, 55, got lucky playing the Lotto 6/49 on June 3, OLG said in a recent media release.

“I glanced at them quickly and tossed my tickets aside, thinking I had lost,” he explained, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

Valdez says he always adds Encore when he's playing the lottery. He has won smaller prizes in the past, but this is his largest win to date.

“I thought I won $1,000, but I double-checked and realized it was $100,000!” Valdez says he is still considering what to do with his winnings.

“It’s a great feeling to win, but money isn’t everything. It would never change who I really am,” he concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Centre Street in Thornhill.
