Massachusetts man won $1 million lottery prize from a friends gift

Man wins $1 million from lottery ticket he was gifted after open heart surgery

If fate is with you, no matter what ways it takes, you'll get it. Alexander McLeish of Attleborough had open heart surgery in early November. He had lots of well wishes but amount them there was one lucky friend who send him a get well soon card.

Inside that card, there were three lottery tickets, including the one that has changed his life after he won the big prize. 

As McLeish began to scratch the "Your Letters" area of the ticket, the first three letters revealed were his initials, AWM. Then, the word appeared on the bottom row of his winning puzzle was "HEART."

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, McLeish chose to receive his winnings as a one time lump sum payment of $650,000.

McLeish said that the same friend send him a gift on his birthday several years ago, where he won $1,000 lottery prize. He should hang on to this particular friend for life.
