Powerball jackpot climbs $454 million as one lucky player wins $2 million

Someone is a multi-millionaire after spending $3 on a winning Powerball ticket. 

A North Carolina lottery player scooped $2 million prize after purchasing a Powerball ticket with the powerplay option. The lucky winner missed out the dream come true jackpot. 

The second-tier prize winning ticket was sold at Harris Teeter Supermarket in Fayetteville. While at the Raeford Road location, the lucky winner spent $3 to purchase the ticket, the NC Education Lottery said.

The winning ticket missed the jackpot by one numbers, but it matched all five white ball numbers to win $2 million on Monday, April 25 drawing, according to the lottery officials. 

The winning numbers for the Monday night's Powerball drawing were 12, 18, 20, 39, 61 and the Red Powerball number was 10 with the powerplay of 2X. 

Now the jackpot is getting even bigger. The next Powerball draw will take place on Wednesday, April 27 with an estimated $454 million jackpot.
