Mega Millions ticket purchased in North Carolina has yielded a $1 million prize, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.

Lottery officials said the $2 ticket was purchased from the Food Lion on Highland Street in Mount Holly.

The $1 million prize was one of three won nationally in Friday’s drawing, with the other two wins occurring in California. A $3 Mega Millions ticket sold in South Carolina also won $2 million.

All winners have 180 days to claim their prizes. Lottery officials said since no one won Friday’s jackpot, the new jackpot for Tuesday’s drawing will climb to $640 million. The $640 million jackpot ranks as the 7th largest in Mega Millions history.

If anybody has a winning ticket, the player must keep it safe and claim the winning prize by visiting the nearest lottery headquarters. The player can also have the facility of calling or sending mail to start the claiming process.
