A fortunate Gaithersburg guy wins $100,000 recently in a lottery game

A Montgomery County man's lottery hot streak ended with a $100,000 top prize on the 50X The Cash scratch-off that he said will help him buy a house. His streak started with a $50 win on an instant ticket.

The Gaithersburg resident used those winnings to buy five $10 50X The Cash scratch-offs at Check Cash Depot in Gaithersburg and kept winning.

One of his scratch-offs revealed a $500 prize and the next instant ticket was the $100,000 winner. “I was happy and pleased.

I have been playing for a long time,” the winner told Maryland Lottery officials. He was scratching off the instant ticket and revealed a “10X” symbol, with a prize of $10,000 beneath the symbol.

The loyal player thought he had won $10,000, but the rules of the game state that the prize shown gets multiplied by 10. That boosted the payout to $100,000.
