A scratch off lottery player from Hillsborough county scoops a big jackpot

A Hillsborough County man is nearly $1.3 million richer Wednesday after claiming a $2 million scratch-off win from the Florida Lottery.

The 42-year-old man from Ruskin bought the winning ticket for $10 from a Sunoco gas station on North Tamiami Trail.

That store got a $4,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the ticket. The Florida Lottery said the man chose to receive his winnings as a one-time lump-sum payment of $1.28 million.

The winner has to reach the nearest lottery headquarters for further documentation formalities and for claiming their winning prize money, lottery officials said.

They also announced that the winner has only half an year from the day of the lottery draw to claim the jackpot.
