Fortunate Auckland guy scoops $22.3 million recently in powerball lottery game

An Auckland resident has just claimed a massive Powerball jackpot of $22.3 million, making them New Zealand's newest multi-millionaire.

The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased the ticket from a Te Atatu Peninsula retailer.

The Powerball jackpot had been rolling over since late December and was at its maximum amount before being finally won last week by the lucky Auckland resident.

The previous biggest Powerball win was in 2018 when a Hamilton resident won $18.2 million.

A spokeswoman for the New Zealand Lotteries Commission said the winner had been contacted and had chosen to remain anonymous.

The winner is yet to decide what they will do with their newfound wealth, but they are sure to enjoy a life of luxury.

This is the third time this year that a lucky player has won a large Powerball jackpot and it is sure to encourage others to join in the fun and try their luck.
