A winner's name of Dearborn lottery is being used in a scam lately
On the morning of July 19, a New York woman got a text message from an unknown number, claiming that a man who had won the lottery in Michigan was trying to give away $20,000 each to two random winners.
The man’s name being used was Keith Burge of Dearborn, who won $1 million in a Dec. 4 drawing.
He bought his winning ticket at the Sunoco gas station, 22110 Ford Road, Dearborn Heights.
The text that the woman received asked her to text back a different number, and speak with a “Dave Perry,” who would distribute the funds.
When the Press and Guide responded both to the original number, and the number asked to contact, vastly different answers were given.
The response from the original number said the number had been hacked and the money offer was a scam.
