Becky Bell, an Auburn resident and 36-year Boeing employee, won the $754.6 million Powerball jackpot.

An Auburn woman and 36-year Boeing employee won the $754.6 million Powerball jackpot on Feb. 5 and claimed her prize last week, the Washington Lottery announced Friday.

Becky Bell elected the cash option of $404 million, which came out to about $310 million after taxes, according to Deputy Director of Washington's Lottery Joshua Johnston, who held a press conference Friday with Bell's oversized check.

Bell, who is a longtime Boeing employee, bought the lucky ticket when she saw the jackpot hit $747 million - just days after the company delivered its final 747 jumbo jet.

Bell normally spends $20 per week on lottery tickets, but this was a sign:

“I had to buy one more ticket,” she said. It proved to be the sole winning ticket for what turned out to be a $754.6 million jackpot.

Auburn may be a lucky city. Lisa and Everett Quam won the $90 million jackpot after buying the winning ticket in Johnston.
