Enfield woman claims $400K prize in scratch-off game

A luckybwoman from Enfield won a whopping sum of $400,000 playing North Carolina Education Lottery’s '$35,000,000 Blowout ticket' game.

The winning ticket was purchased from the Halifax Supermarket & Grill on U.S. 301 S. in Halifax. The store will receive a bonus of $400 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket. 

The winner recently claimed her winning amount from the lottery headquarters and  after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $284,041.

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) is run by the government of North Carolina. The $35,000,000 Blowout game started in January with four top prizes of $400,000.

The revenue distributions are as follows: 51% was paid out in prizes, 38% was transferred into the education fund, 7% was paid to the retailers who sold lottery tickets, and 4% went to general lottery expenses.
