Fort Worth resident wins $1 million Powerball prize

A lucky Fort Worth resident won Powerball jackpot worth $1 million from a Powerball drawing last month, officials with the Texas Lottery announced Monday.

The winning ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven on Altamesa Boulevard in Fort Worth. The ticket distributor will get a bonus of $10,000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket.

The winner matched all five of the white ball numbers but not the red Powerball number.

The Texas Lottery is the government-operated lottery available throughout Texas.

The current format utilizes one set of 69 white balls, and a second set, of 26 red balls (the "Powerball".) Players choose six numbers; five white ball numbers, and the "Powerball” from the second set.
