Greenville Player Scores Big $2 Million Winning Lottery Ticket Sold in South Carolina
GREENVILLE, S.C. — A North Carolina man won $2 million on a lottery ticket at Greenville, South Carolina, convenience store.
“I happened to be working in the area and stopped to get gas,” the winner, who does not wish to be identified, told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
He says he went inside the Raceway #6748 on Woodruff Road in Greenville and bought a $20 scratch-off. He won $20, cashed in his winning ticket and bought another one.
The second ticket made him a millionaire. “I had to calm down,” the winner said. “I still had to go back to work.” Raceway store owner Paul Patel was just as excited his store sold the big, top prize ticket.
“I couldn’t sleep that night,” Patel admitted to lottery officials. The Raceway received a commission of $20,000 for selling the claimed ticket and Patel plans to use the funds to make improvements at the store.
He also said he will share the money with his staff. As for the millionaire, he’s thinking of spending his prize money on a new house.
The winner beat the 1 in 1,320,000 odds in the 200X game to leave one more top prize of $2 million remaining in the game.
