Idaho Lottery Delivers Record $90 Million to Idaho Communities in Historic Year

The Idaho Lottery just wrapped up its biggest year ever, returning a record-breaking $90 million dividend to the people of Idaho for Fiscal Year 2026. That's $15 million more than last year, marking an impressive 20% increase and the largest payout in the lottery's 37-year history.

The milestone comes after a record sales year, with lottery ticket sales reaching $451 million, up 12.5% from the previous year. Strong demand was fueled by two billion-dollar Powerball jackpots and continued growth in Scratch Games, the lottery's most popular products.

Highlights from the record year:

  • $90 million returned to Idaho residents
  • $451 million in total lottery sales
  • $304.2 million paid out in player prizes
  • $26.3 million earned by lottery retailers in commissions

Governor Brad Little accepted the historic dividend at a ceremony held at the Idaho State Capitol, praising the Idaho Lottery for its commitment to integrity and its ongoing support of essential public services.

Of the total dividend, $56.25 million was directed to Idaho's public education system. Since the lottery began, it has contributed more than $836.5 million to schools across the state. Education leaders said the funding continues to provide meaningful support for students, teachers, and classrooms.

The remaining $33.75 million was allocated to Idaho's Permanent Building Fund, helping finance the construction, maintenance, and improvement of state-owned buildings and facilities.

The Idaho Lottery also expanded its impact through its VIP Club's Do Good program. Members helped fund 592 school projects worth $417,500, including new elementary school libraries, classroom improvements, a middle school woodworking shop, and sensory room equipment for students.

Lottery officials credited the record-setting year to smart management, teamwork, and strong player participation. They also noted that many VIP Club members chose to donate their rewards to school projects instead of redeeming them for personal prizes, creating lasting benefits for communities across Idaho.
