There is a monstrous jackpot on the line for the Tuesday, July 12 Mega Millions drawing.

According to the Michigan Lottery, if someone matches all the numbers in Tuesday night's drawing, they could win $440 million, surpassing the jackpot earlier this year won by a California resident.

The last time the Mega Millions jackpot was won was in April 2022, when a Tennessee player won $20 million.

Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday evening. The $2 game is sold in 45 different states across the U.S., as well as Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

There are several steps someone should do if they win the lottery before heading to claim their prize.

According to Forbes, the first step should be signing the back of the lotto ticket.
