North Carolina Woman 'Floored' After $100,000 Lottery Win

A Macon County woman named Cynthia Brown won North Carolina Education Lottery’s $25 Extreme Cash ticket game worth $100,000.

The winning ticket was sold at the Dowdle Mountain Pit Stop in Franklin. The store will receive a bonus of $1000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket.

"It was the No. 13. I was floored," she said, adding of her shock, "I couldn't even write my name on the ticket I was shaking so much."

She recently claimed her winning amount from the lottery headquarters and took home $71,257 after all required state and federal tax withholdings.

With the winning amount she plans to clear her bills and save the remainder.

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) is run by the government of North Carolina.
