Forgotten Lottery Ticket Turns Into a $30,000 Surprise

A Maryland man got an unexpected payday when a forgotten lottery ticket fell from his car’s sun visor and landed right in his lap. What he thought might be a small win turned out to be a $30,000 Mega Millions prize!

According to the Maryland Lottery, the anonymous winner purchased the ticket in early October at a 7-Eleven on Ridgeside Drive in Mount Airy. He tucked it into his sun visor and completely forgot about it.

Weeks later, while stopping for gas, the ticket suddenly fell into his lap. Curious, he checked the numbers using the Maryland Lottery app.

“I thought if it was $600, great,” he told lottery officials.

The man discovered that his ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers, but he wasn't sure how much he'd won. He returned to the same 7-Eleven for clarification and received some incredible news: his forgotten ticket was worth $30,000!

Roommate Helps Celebrate the Win

Excited by the unexpected windfall, the winner rushed home to share the news with his roommate, who had just woken up from a nap.

“I sat up so fast,” the roommate recalled.

The roommate even offered to drive him to lottery headquarters so the winner wouldn't have to drive on the highway himself.

As for the prize money, the lucky player plans to save it for a rainy day. However, he may also treat his helpful roommate to dinner as a way to celebrate the surprise win.

Sometimes, a forgotten lottery ticket can deliver a much bigger surprise than expected!
