Wayne County woman went 6 weeks without realizing she’d won a $1M Powerball prize

Eileen Wickett, a 60-year-old woman from Northville, Michigan, recently discovered that she won a $1 million Powerball prize from a drawing held on February 6.

She had been using the subscription feature for the lottery and received an email from the Michigan Lottery informing her of her win, but it didn't specify the amount. Wickett assumed it was just a few dollars and didn't log into her account for six weeks.

When she finally checked her account, she saw that she had won $1 million and immediately called her kids to share the good news. Wickett plans to use the prize money to take a vacation, complete home renovations, and share with her family.

The Michigan Lottery offers a variety of instant tickets, raffles, and other lottery games, and players are encouraged to check their tickets immediately to claim any prizes. In 2021, a $1 million winner sold in Warren went unclaimed, and the money was given to the state's School Aid Fund.

The Wolverine FLL lottery club is the last group from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot, claiming a $1.05 billion prize in March 2021. The group plans to use their winnings to give back to the community. For more information on Michigan Lottery, visit the official website.
