A Montrealer Won $50 Million Playing Lotto Max & Went Back To Work The Next Day

Pierre Richer, a Montreal resident, experienced a life-changing moment when he won a colossal $50 million jackpot playing Lotto Max.

While many of us fantasize about winning the lottery, quitting our jobs, and living a life of luxury, Pierre Richer had a different perspective on his newfound wealth.

It all started when Richer purchased a Lotto Max ticket at Super C during the Thanksgiving weekend. Little did he know that this simple act would lead to a multimillion-dollar windfall. Following the October 6, 2023 draw, Richer checked his ticket using the Lotteries app. To his astonishment, his ticket didn't just win; it won the entire $50 million jackpot. Richer's spouse and daughter were equally shocked and celebrated the incredible news with screams of joy.

Here's the surprising part: despite now being $50 million richer, Richer didn't change his daily routine. On Monday, October 9, at 4:30 a.m., he returned to work as if nothing had happened. This remarkable commitment to his job was unexpected, given the enormous windfall he had just received.

Richer, who is in his sixties and has a 40-year career in shipping, indicated that he may consider retirement at some point in the future. However, for the time being, he plans to continue working.

While he doesn't intend to abandon his job entirely, Richer does have plans for his newfound wealth. One of his dreams is to purchase a home on the outskirts of Montreal, a goal he can now easily achieve. With four decades of dedicated work behind him, Richer also acknowledges the need for some well-deserved "me time."

The winning ticket was purchased from the Super C store located at 7800 Boulevard Champlain in LaSalle, Montreal. As a result of selling the jackpot-winning ticket, the retailer will receive a 1% commission amounting to $500,000.
