John Turner of Shelby, North Carolina, recently won $3 million playing the Fabulous Fortunes scratch-off game.

Turner purchased the winning $30 ticket from the Kangaroo Express on Mallard Creek Road in Charlotte.

After scratching the ticket in his car, he was overwhelmed with emotion and started crying tears of joy.

Turner claimed his prize at lottery headquarters and decided to take the lump sum payment of $1.8 million after all required taxes were withheld.

He plans to use his winnings to pay off his car, share some of the funds with family, and invest the rest. The Fabulous Fortunes game has now ended after Turner's win, which marked the end of the six grand prizes of $3 million and 18 prizes of $100,000.
