North Carolina man wins $5 million after buying scratch-off at gas station

A lucky man from North Carolina named Paul Leonard won a whopping sum of $5 million playing North Carolina Education Lottery's 200X The Cash game.

The winning ticket was purchased from Cool Mart on Penny Road in Raleigh. The store will receive a bonus of $50,000 for selling the winning ticket. 

The winner recently claimed his winning amount from the lottery headquarters and took home a lump-sum payment of $3 million. 

North Carolina has one of the United States' youngest lottery systems, having been enacted in 2005. The revenue distributions are as follows: 51% was paid out in prizes, 38% was transferred into the education fund, 7% was paid to the retailers who sold lottery tickets, and 4% went to general lottery expenses.
