'Last-minute' purchase leads Dublin family to scoop €15 million Lotto jackpot

A lucky Dublin family won a whopping sum of €15 million playing National Lottery's EuroMillions Plus drawing.

The win was very unexpected to the family as they bought the ticket after a "last-minute" decision to buy a ticket led them to scoop the mouth-watering prize.

The winner recently claimed their winning amount from the National Lottery headquarters and took home a lump-sum payment of €14.67 million after taxes.

The National Lottery is the state-franchised national lottery established in 1994 in the United Kingdom. Prizes are paid as a lump sum (with the exception of the Set For Life which is paid over a set period) and are tax-free. Of all money spent on National Lottery games, around 53% goes to the prize fund and 25% to "good causes".
