North Carolina Man Claims $1 Million Scratch-Off Prize

A North Carolina man is celebrating in a big way after a simple scratch-off ticket turned into a $1 million win.

Einer Garcia of Wanchese decided to try his luck on the MAX-A-MILLION game from the North Carolina Education Lottery — and it paid off big time.

Here’s how it happened:

  • ?? He bought a $30 scratch-off ticket

  • ? Picked it up at Duck Thru Food Store in Wanchese

  • ? Landed the game’s top $1 million prize

Instead of annual payments, Garcia chose the lump sum option. After required taxes, he walked away Tuesday with $396,060 in cash.

And here’s the exciting part — the MAX-A-MILLION game isn’t done yet. There are still 14 more $1 million top prizes waiting to be claimed.

Not a bad reminder that sometimes, taking a small chance can lead to a life-changing moment.
