A North Carolina woman, Eunice Brown, recently won a $1 million prize on a $30 scratch-off ticket.

Brown, a resident of Council, purchased the winning Millionaire Maker ticket from Home Race Mart in Lake Waccamaw. After winning, Brown called her son, who initially didn't believe her and had to be convinced with a picture of the ticket.

Brown had the option to receive her prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. She chose the latter and, after taxes, took home $427,509.

Brown plans to use the money to pay bills and share some with her family.
