‘I didn’t want to cause a scene in the store’: Oakland County man wins $557K lottery jackpot

A lucky man from Oakland County won a whopping sum of $557,000 playing Michigan Lottery’s Fantasy 5 prize.

The winning ticket was sold at the Marathon at 6601 Cooley Lake in Waterford. The ticket distributor will get a bonus of $5000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket.

"When I looked the winning numbers over and saw I’d all matched five, I tried to remain calm because I didn’t want to cause a scene in the store. Once I got in my car, I started shouting with excitement! It was such a great feeling," the 54-year-old winner, who chose to remain anonymous, said.

The winner plans to pay bills with the winning amount and save the rest of the money.

The Michigan Lottery offers numerous on-line and scratch-off games, giving players a wide variety of prize possibilities.

Fantasy 5 jackpots increase by a minimum of $5,000 per drawing if there is no jackpot winner. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 575,757.
