Powerball prize climbs to $625 million

After no ticket matched all five numbers  on Saturday's drawing, the jackpot continued to rise upto 625 million for Monday night’s draw.

This jackpot has now become the eighth-largest prize in the game's history.

The cash option for the current jackpot is $299.8 million. Either prize option would also be subject to taxes. The longer the game goes without a grand prize winner, the larger the payout will grow.

Powerball is an American lottery game offered by 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is coordinated by the State Lottery Association (MUSL), a nonprofit organization formed by an agreement with lobbyists and US corporations.

Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evening at 10:59 p.m.
