Retired veteran from Ware claims $1 million lottery ticket

A lucky retired veteran from Ware named Lawrence Marino won a whopping sum of $1 million playing Massachusetts State Lottery's “$4,000,000 Platinum Jackpot” instant ticket game.

The winning ticket was purchased from the Jane Alden Convenience Store located at 48 West St. in Ware. The store will receive a bonus of $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.

The winner recently claimed his winning amount from the lottery headquarters and took home $650,000 after state taxes.

Marino told lottery officials that he plans to buy a new car with the winning amount and save the rest for future uses.

As with most U.S. lotteries, lottery games in Massachusetts require players to be at least 18 years old. Drawings are broadcast on WBZ-TV (channel 4) the CBS-station in the Boston television market.
