Richmond beat the odds, winning the $225,000 Cash Ball 225 top prize.

A Madison County man hit the jackpot worth $225k after winning big on a Kentucky Lottery Cash Ball 225 ticket.

The Richmond man, who wished to remain anonymous, told lottery officials he couldn’t believe his eyes when he checked his ticket.

“I was scanning my ticket when I saw $225,000 pop up on the screen. I’m trying to figure out what it is and re-scan it,” he said.

The winner purchased a ticket for the drawing at Meijer Gas Station in Richmond. The numbers match four white ball numbers and cash ball numbers to win the game’s top prize. The ticket distributor will get $2000 commission for selling the winning ticket.

He opted to take the one-time lump sum of $159,750 after taxes and wishes to celebrate his win with his close family members.
