Persistence Pays Off: North Carolina Woman Wins $154K Jackpot

Hope Mills resident Barbara Munford proved that sticking with your lucky numbers can really pay off. She’d been playing the same set of Cash 5 numbers for six years, thanks to a little nudge from her sister. “She told me I was going to win one day,” Munford said.

That prediction became reality Monday when a $1 ticket she purchased at the Lucky Stop on Legion Road hit the $154,168 jackpot. “I was like, ‘Oh my god, that’s me, that’s me, I won!’” she recalled, still buzzing from the excitement.

The win brought an overwhelming mix of emotions. “I was in the living room crying,” Munford admitted.

 

Looking ahead, she plans to use her winnings to cover bills. “I love the Cash 5 now,” she said, a little luck proving that patience and persistence can truly pay off.
